We recently were in Texas to pick up a bus we purchased to turn into a camper van. It just made us so happy to have stumbled upon Happy State Bank in Amarillo that we had to stop and take this picture!
It’s past 8pm at the time this photo was taken so unfortunately the bank was closed and we were not able to go inside.
Love the pillars and a large star at our feet of the entrance!
We learned their headquarters were not far away so the next day we planned a visit.

Happy Texas is a real place and it’s where this bank’s history began. The population sign is the last wooden one of its kind circa 1984 per the description below it.
Inside there is a beautiful vault, fountain, and spacious tunnels in the building where presumably new-hires are trained at University of Happy! The placard displays information about the bank’s 1989 beginnings as an acquisition of the First State Bank of Happy. Listed are core values including “Family First, all the time, every time” and “Laugh at Work”. The placard pictures J. Pat Hickman, Chairman and CEO, and his mission “Work hard, have fun, make money, while providing outstanding customer service and honoring the Golden Rule.”
